Overview
Our Springtails & Isopods Combo Package is comprised of an 8 oz. mixed springtails seeding culture and the isopod species of your choice. This package is designed to provide maximum
micro fauna
penetration of your terrarium/vivarium ecosystem. These arthropods have ferocious appetites for decomposing leaf litter, animal feces, and dead plant matter. Springtails and isopods are also ideal dietary food supplements for dart frogs, small salamanders and newly metamorphosed amphibians of all kinds. Once established their colonies will continue to procreate creating a steady food supply for your pets while cleaning and maintaining your habitat's ecosystem.
Springtail Culture
Our mixed springtail seeding cultures are
teaming
with hundreds of active adult and juvenile Tropical White, Tropical Pink and Temperate springtails. Comprised of a
sphagnum
peat moss substrate, seeding cultures are ready to be added directly to your habitat's substrate. Simply empty seeding culture (in part or in full) directly into desired habitat. If emptied in part, add additional organic matter to seeding culture and springtails will continue to procreate in seeding culture container in perpetuity if properly maintained.
Isopod Culture
Our isopod cultures are ready to add directly into your terrarium/vivarium habitat. Isopods are crustaceans that serve both as habitat janitors and as a high calcium supplemental food source for dart frogs, geckos and a variety of other reptiles and amphibians. We culture our isopods in a warm, moist mixture of sphagnum peat moss, oak leaves and oak bark. They're raised on a diet of fresh vegetables, high protein fish flakes and Critters Direct Springtail & Isopod Food specifically designed to provide the nutrients they need for health and rapid procreation.

If your local temps are below 40 or above 85 degrees F you must select our "Hold For Pickup" at post office shipping method in order to receive our Live Arrival Guarantee. If your local temps are below 40 or above 85 degrees F and you do not select our "Hold For Pickup" shipping method then we cannot guarantee live arrival.
Hold For Pickup
"Hold for Pickup" is a USPS special service that delivers your package directly to your post office for pickup. You must physically go to the post office to retrieve your package. There is no additional charge for this service.

How-To-Care Guide
Springtail Culture
Our seeding cultures are packaged in 8 oz. containers with a sphagnum peat moss substrate
Seeding cultures will reproduce in perpetuity if properly maintained
Pour/spoon all (or part) of the culture substrate directly into your habitat and allow springtails to settle in
If you choose to retain part of your culture for future use add additional organic substrate, food (see last bullet), mist with RO or dechlorinated water, and recap lid. Keep culture moist by misting as needed.
Feed culture once a week or when previous food has been completely devoured
Keep culture at room temp out of direct sunlight
Keep habitat aerated. Fresh airflow is essential to a healthy ecosystem
Maintain high humidity (80-90% is optimal)
FOOD: Springtails will naturally feed off your habitats decaying organic matter so no additional food is necessary. However, an
occasional
supplemental food source such as Critters Direct Springtail & Isopod Food, a thin slice of squash or zucchini, or fish flakes will help them procreate faster
Isopod Culture
Our isopod cultures are packaged in 2 or 8 oz. containers filled with sphagnum peat moss and leaf litter for dwarf species or moist paper towels for larger species
Your isopod colony will reproduce in perpetuity if properly maintained
Simply empty container into desired habitat and allow isopods to settle in
Keep habitat at room temp (72-85 F)
The higher the temp the faster they will procreate (mid-80s is optimal)
Keep habitat moist, misting with dechlorinated water as needed
Keep habitat aerated. Fresh airflow is essential to a healthy ecosystem
Maintain high humidity (80-90% is optimal). Less humidity is needed for Giant Canyon Isopods
FOOD: Isopods will naturally feed off your habitats decaying organic matter so no additional food is necessary. However, an
occasional
supplemental food source such as Critters Direct Springtail & Isopod Food or a thin slice of squash or zucchini will help them procreate faster
